2.6m tourists fly to Aegean coast

The number of the foreign tourists to the Muğla province and its environs, coming by sea and air, increased by 9 percent compared to last year, Governor Lütfi Yiğenoğlu said.

With a goal of reaching the target of three million tourists by the end of this year, Yiğenoğlu said they will try to support Turkey's economic tourism sector by increasing both the number and quality of tourists.

“Some 1,311,940 tourists entered the district from Dalaman Airport, 919,524 from Milas-Bodrum Airport, and another 415,599 from the Sea Custom Offices at Marmaris, Bodrum, Fethiye, Datça, Güllük, Turgutreis and Yalıkavak,” Yiğenoğlu said.

In the 11 months of this year, 1,183,397 English tourists, 239,328 Dutch, 200,264 German, 132,220 Belgian and 127,613 Russian tourists visited the district.

Muğla and its environs have a capacity of 243,000 beds, 170,000 of which have tourist certificates.

Meanwhile, Turkey has pledged to increase the number of Blue Flag beaches in the Muğla district and all over the country.
