Turkey
experiences winter sun
Holidaymakers
in Turkey are currently enjoying summer-like
conditions, according to reports.
Today's Zaman stated that the province of Antalya,
located along the Mediterranean coastline, was
experiencing temperatures of 23 degrees C.
Visitors to the region were said to be enjoying the
chance to experience some winter sunshine, while
some expressed surprise with how good the weather in
Turkey could be.
Meliha Sene Aksel, a holidaymaker from Belgium, told
the newspaper: "I did not expect the weather to be
so warm.
"Seeing that the sun was shining, I preferred to
sunbathe on the beach with my group of friends."
Meanwhile, German tourist Albert Agneust said he was
"delighted" with the good weather, as it snowy and
cold in his home country.
The popularity of Turkey as a holiday destination
was recently highlighted by Michael Frenzel of tour
operator TUI.
Speaking to the Turkish Press, he stated that the
country was increasingly competing with other
established holiday hotspots in Europe such as
Spain.
