Marina Plans Set Sail – Honest!
Posted on Friday, October 20 @ 00:46:15

A NEW era beckons today for Didim with the final transfer of coastal land and sea areas for the 50 MILLION USD construction of a marina for 555 yachts – and the end of a decade’s long bureaucratic nightmare.

The on-off saga of the Aegean’s own phantom marina was finally confirmed as ON with the historic, and long overdue, contract signing between Dogus Holdings and the Treasury.

The handover of 115,000 m2 of Treasury land and 173,000m2 of sea to Dogus was originally held up after the construction company refused to pay up a final 140,000 YTL (£49.000) for the transfer process.

In return for not paying the outstanding sum, Dogus has agreed to own and manage the marina for 25 years before it is handed back to the Government. It is normal procedure for such facilities then to be rented back to the owners for an agreed sum.

The marina, which will also have a capacity for 300 yachts in dry dock, as well as a boat yard, is expected to completely rejuvenate the area between Third Beach and the Parliamentary sitesi.

Dogus have now pledged to crack on with the work, which is expected to be completed within 30 months.

Dogus spokesman Ali Bezirgan said: “The transfer of the land was delayed because of bureaucratic problems but they are now resolved. Today is the starting day of the marina and we will not waste another moment. And it will be completed on time.”

Head of Didim Municipality Ali Cetin added: “This represents the biggest ever opportunity for Didim. It will change the face of the area forever.”

Didim Mayor Mumin Kamaci added: “We are at the dawn of a new era for the town and we will grasp this unique opportunity with both hands. The marina is the future of Didim.

Proof of new Marina as diggers move in
Posted on Friday, October 27 @ 16:19:40

After 10 years of waiting, these are the first pictures which show tangible proof that the work on the marina is taking place.

The 50 Million USD project is expected to take 30 months to complete and will eventually cater for 555 yachts and 300 yachts in dry dock. Construction company Dogus Holdings has pledged to meet its deadline.

The company this week drafted in heavy earth moving equipment to scrape off scrubland on the site, of which Dogus has bought 115,000 m2 of land and 173,000m2 of sea.

Voices will be keeping its readers updated regularly on any breaking news from the marina site as it begins to take shape.

Marina Construction continues at high speed
Posted on Friday, November 03 @ 11:42:39

The marina construction that has started two weeks ago continues at a high speed. Voices correspondent who was there to report this week’s developments found out that last week the transformer station that would supply electricity for the site was built, drilling had started, wire fence was put up and the construction of the sheds for the building yard had started.

According to the information obtained from Şenel Akpınar, the owner of the subcontractor company Karia Construction that has undertaken the construction on behalf of Doğuş Group, there is nothing delayed at the time being. The firm commissioner said that everything was going as planned and they did their best to keep it that way.
