Building restrictions proposed in Turkey

Overseas property investors could benefit from new proposals designed to limit the spread of new developments in Turkey.

The country's government is aiming to slow down the construction of new developments in order to prevent them overrunning the land and removing much of its natural character.

Major tourist and investment hotspots such as the coastal resorts along the Aegean are included in the plans, as they are currently experiencing extensive building work.

If the proposals come into effect, the rate of construction will be able to be controlled, while growth in the tourism trade can continue unaffected.

It is hoped that by imposing such limitations, the land will be protected and the country's authentic appeal to both holidaymakers and overseas property investors will be preserved.

The plans should also ensure that agricultural regions, historical sites and areas of natural beauty will also be protected.

According to the Turkish Daily News, the country is becoming increasingly popular among Ukrainian and Russian holidaymakers
