Turkey aims to
boost winter tourism
Tourist authorities in Turkey have
announced plans to increase the amount of visitors in winter.
Suat Gurkok of the Turkish Travel Agencies Union stated that winter
tourism was very important for the country and its economy.
Speaking to the Anatolia News Agency, he said that new facilities were
being designed to attract visitors, such as additional skiing resources
in popular resorts.
This, he predicted, would make areas such as the Black Sea highly
popular with both holidaymakers and overseas property buyers.
Mr Gurkok commented: "Turkey is at the top of the countries that draw
tourists for winter tourism purposes."
He added that areas such as Cakirgol were especially likely to receive
extra attention from foreign property investors.
This comes after Volkan Simsek of the Professional Hotel Managers
Association told Today's Zaman that there was "tremendous potential" for
growth in the country's tourist sector.
